My Juicing Experience

I recently decided to get healthier and start juicing. Here is a little example of the benefits it has given me. Also where I buy my products from.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit my Aunt Elaine, on my mother’s side. It was her 80th birthday and for a surprise my family and I went to Chicago to see her.  Once there it felt more like a family reunion than a birthday and it was a reunion I sure needed. My parents have both passed away and sometimes I need to be around family to feel that comfort and love I still long for. This trip was more than I could have ever asked for; my Aunt Elaine is more like a young 60 year old that never stops and is always helping everyone in the community rather than someone entering their later stages of their life. My Uncle Kenny, her and my mother’s brother, also attended is an absolute blessing and brings laughter to everyone around. He is one of the kindness men I or anyone will ever meet.

On this trip I took two of my three adult children and together we were able to visit the home where my mother and her seven brother and sisters grew up. We were able to take photos on the front porch and we went by the schools they attended and the parks where they played. It was a moment my children and I will never forget. I am thankful I was able to share these memories of their grandmother with them.

After returning home I was able to think of all the things I am grateful for. I am very blessed to have four wonderful children and two beautiful grandchildren.  I am grateful to have found a perfect match for a husband, who in spite of my flaws, loves me unconditionally. I have two loving sisters, who I know will always be there when and if I need them. I am thankful to still have friends that I went to elementary, junior high, and high school with and are my closest and most loved companions.

I also would like to say thank you to my family, friends, and clients, who have become my beloved inner circle and I wish you all the most wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Please remember to think of one thing you are thankful for every day.

A couple of weeks ago my daughters and I participated in the Run or Dye event in Los Angeles California. Neither my daughters or I have run in a 5k for many years and were very uncertain of what to expect. While one of my daughters tried to convince me to wear a colorful tutu but that was not an option I was into at the time. runordye5

Upon arrival we found 1000’s of others in the colorful outfits and white Run or Dye shirts ready for the race. There were even a few wearing full body suites of the human body. It was definitely a site to be seen. With our bag of dye in our hands we headed to the starting line. Anticipation surrounding us everywhere we were ready for the race to start.

The count down started and when it was time to go we took off across the start line right into the first color station, orange dust-covered everything. But we kept on running. Quickly my daughters were gone just another colorful body running with the others.

We went through many other colors: purple, yellow, orange and pink. By the finish line you were barely recognizable with the amount of color stuck to your face.

I found both my daughters waiting for me at the finish line. After participating in one of the color throws we decided we were ready to head home.

The Run or Dye was a great event that was fun for the whole family. I was able to do something outside the normal with my children that was also a fun way to get some exercise which is not including all the training leading up to it. Of course everyone can walk during these events some do choose to run the entire thing. runordye4

If you are looking for something fun to do with the entire family it is definitely a run I would recommend. Don’t forget to bring water for after the run!Especially if it is a warm day it is better the be safe than sorry.

Make sure to check the Run or Dye site to find out when it will be at a city near you!

Nothing says Halloween more than children and pumpkins. Well maybe ghosts and goblins but children and pumpkins are high on the list. A couple of weekends ago I held my annual Pumpkin-Give-Away at The Meadows neighborhood in Simi Valley. This year was filled with wonderful families, adorable children and plenty of pumpkins. Here are some pictures of our fun day.

I have had some new ideas lately and one of them is start doing a restaurant of the month. I thought this would be fun to give people the low down on places to eat in Simi Valley California and near it. So here is the first ever Restaurant of the month, I hope your exciting as I am.

We decided today to go to Exotic Thai Bistro in the Simi Valley Town Center Mall. My daughter and I often go there for lunch together so why not use a familiar place for the first restaurant of the month review.

Exotic Thai is located next to California Pizza Kitchen and Red Robin at the Simi Valley Town Center. They are open for lunch and dinner Monday thru Sunday.

When we arrived this evening at 5:00 p.m. It was almost empty inside. We were quickly greeted and taken to our seats. The decor is intimate with the dim lighting and wall of candles. It had some traditional looks with a modern take on it. There is a few small intimate couches for groups to sit and enjoy a cocktail or two here. They also have an outdoor seating area for days when the weather is perfect (which is quite often here in Simi Valley.) The music was current and low enough to not be bothersome.

We ordered one lemon drop and a pomegranate martini for drinks. We also ordered the honey glazed edamame for our appetizer. We received our drinks and appetizer quickly. The drinks were fare. They unfortunately didn’t seem to have very much alcohol in them and were over powered by sweetness of probably the triple sec. Or at least that seemed the case for my lemon drop.

The appetizer was simply amazing. They certainly are my favorite when it comes to my Honey Glazed Edamame. Our food arrived shortly after which was the Pad Thai and the Thai Rice. No complaints here regarding the food. It was quick and came out extremely hot as soon as it was finished. I am definitely not a fan of cold food, so we were extremely happy about this. The food always comes out plated beautifully making it look quite appetizing. It also tastes as great as it smells and looks!

During our meal we were only checked on once and it did take a little long for our check to arrive for considering how quite it was still. Only a few more tables arrived after us. For a little over $40 dollars we received two martini’s, and appetizer and two meals. This place is definitely not overpriced. Especially if you come during the lunch specials!

Overall I would give Exotic Thai Bistro a 7. It is clean and welcoming. The drinks aren’t too good but they do serve beer which can not be messed up. The food is absolutely amazing and the service a little slow for my taste. I would highly recommend coming here, the food is worth it.
